How Far is Okaloosa Island From Destin?
At its west-most point Okaloosa Island is 6.5 Miles from Destin and at its east-most point Okaloosa Island is just 1.7 miles from Destin. You’ll drive over the Destin Bridge and pass Crab Island on your way to Okaloosa Island.
From Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa Island is just around 2 miles away. This makes the narrow stretch of beach the perfect private getaway for visitors and locals alike!
Things to do
As you’re traveling over Brooks Bridge from Fort Walton Beach, you will notice the beautiful emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Once you’ve passed over the bridge, you’ll be greeted with plenty to do and plenty to see!
If you continue driving east on Miracle Strip Parkway, as you pass Surf Style pay attention for the next hotel and take an immediate left. This will bring you to Little Marler Park (Which is also accessible by boat!) and Ross Marler Park which provides boating, swimming and fishing access to the Choctawhatchee Bay. It’s in this general area that you’ll find The Gulf on Okaloosa Island, as well.
If you love to fish, the island is a great place to test your luck with a variety of game fish. On Okaloosa Island, you’ll find Redfish, King Mackerel, Tuna and much more. The Gulfarium is a wonderful attraction for people of all ages! With the aquariums wide variety of wildlife to visit and live dolphin shows!
